From: Art and Protest: Drawing Resistance

by Sue Dietila and Nicolas Lampert

Drawing Resistance is a group art show by 31 North American artist/activists. The works shown treat vital issues like
the anti-globalization movement, working class rights, environmental destruction, corporate domination, police brutality, homelessness, gentrification and the Zapatista liberation movement in Mexico.

Organized by Sue Simensky Bietila (Milwaukee) and Nicolas Lampert (Minneapolis), Drawing Resistance
is traveling for up to five years in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The show has no outside funding and relies solely on the communities that host it to transport it to the next site. Its first venue was Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where it opened in September 2001.
